Iran Hangs 9 Prisoners in 7 Prisons as Executions Continue to Rise

A sharp and unrestrained increase in executions in recent months highlights the political system’s growing internal crisis and its inability to meet calls for change and freedom.

Iran executes 9 prisoners in Qom, Ahvaz, Shahrekord, Tabriz, Bandar Abbas, Taybad, and Shiraz amid a crisis

Iran Human Rights Society, Monday, December 1, 2025- Iran executions have spiked uncontrollably in recent months. This trend signals the regime’s deepening political crisis. Leaders fail to meet demands for change and freedom. On Monday, December 1, 2025, authorities hanged nine prisoners across seven prisons. The act highlights Iran’s brutal repression. People protest these killings daily. However, the government ignores global outcry. Therefore, international pressure must intensify to halt this horror.

Recent Executions in Iranian Prisons

At dawn, executioners hanged Noureddin Karami in Qom Prison. In Ahvaz, Tayeb Minaei met the same end. Javad Souri died in Shahrekord Prison. Two unnamed prisoners perished in Tabriz; investigators verify identities now. Bandar Abbas saw two deaths: Parsa Abdi and an Afghan national, whose name remains unclear. Ali Hajipour lost his life in Taybad Prison. Finally, Abdulrahman Nahtani hanged in Shiraz’s Adelabad Prison.

Previously, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, seven others died in the same Shiraz facility. This raises the total there to eight. Families buried loved ones amid grief.

Why Iran Executions Clash with Human Rights

The death penalty directly opposes the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article 3 guarantees everyone’s right to life. Courts may only deprive it for grave crimes via fair judgments. However, Iran executions ignore these rules. They strip away basic dignity.

First, they violate the right to life. This fundamental freedom stays inalienable. No state should end it lightly. Second, executions prove irreversible. Judicial mistakes happen often. Once carried out, no remedy exists. Families suffer forever. Third, hanging methods amount to torture. Victims endure agony. This breaches anti-cruelty clauses. Therefore, global bodies condemn such practices outright.

Violations of International Pacts on Iran Executions

According to Article 6 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which Iran is a signatory to, the issuance and execution of the death penalty is permitted only with full guarantees of a fair trial and for the most serious crimes. In many similar cases, lack of transparency, legal restrictions on the accused, and issuance of verdicts in courts lacking necessary independence are considered contrary to this fundamental human rights principle.
